Additional Shipping Information

We are committed to sending you “the bestest” pie we can ‘cause we are as good as the last pie shipped! Therefore, our packaging is extremely crucial to your pie arriving as it was sent out. The last four years we have averaged less than 3 messed up pies out of 1000 and the key is the packaging.

We know that all of the info about shipping in confusing and seems like it is not worth the time to read but you must understand a couple of key issues ~

1. We are shipping a “perishable product” not a jar of jelly.
2. That once it leaves the café’s front porch on the way to your porch we depend on UPS, which we have done for the past 18 years and they do a great job. They, like all of us walk with feet of clay! But very rarely do we have a problem with big brown!!!
3. We don’t want the pie to sit in a UPS warehouse of the weekend if it doesn’t have too. UPS does not ship or move packages on weekends unless it is for Saturday delivery, which is an additional cost on top of Next Day Air. The only way that UPS delivers on Saturday is if the package was shipped out on Friday with Next Day charges and with the extra Saturday delivery charge. So, it better be a real good friend ‘cause the shipping is about three times the cost of the pie!
4. We ship UPS Ground to almost all of the country, with our pies being delivered within 2-4 days depending on destination and no later than Friday. Yes, the further from Round Top, Texas the longer it takes….Texas is a big state. You don’t take a day trip across with out filling up your gas tank a couple of times!
5. We need your pie order by 5 PM Saturday to ensure that that we are able to ship it on Monday and will be received at any destination by the end of the week. Please remember that the café is open Thursday through Sunday afternoon and for the most part there is no one at the café when are closed.
6. Monday (excluding holidays) is our main shipping day during the year except during November & December. That means if you place a pie order after 5 PM Saturday and the destination is out of Texas we may not be able to ship it until Monday a week or 10 days later. Now if the destination is in Texas we’ll most likely be able to ship it out on the following Thursday for delivery on Friday since it is only one day delivery in Texas.
7. We do not require a signature for your pies to be received. If the recipient is not at home when your pies is delivered then UPS will leave it at your door. You may consider having it delivered to a work setting. If you do please check to see if deliveries are made to a mail room where it could set for a day or two.
